Woolery x DJE Handwovens Table Runner Collaboration

Woolery x DJE Handwovens Table Runner Collaboration

Posted by Elizabeth on Dec 8th 2023

This collaboration with DJE Handwovens has been a long time in the making and we are so excited to finally share it with you all!

This pattern and design is available through our Woolery Table Runner kit which you can get here. The kit includes a printed weaving draft designed by Deb from DJE Handwovens and 2 cones of our Bluegrass Mills 6/2 cotton yarn! Choose from 3 different color ways: Cranberry/Queen Anne's Lace, Lupine/Queen Anne's Lace, or Evergreen/Queen Anne's Lace.

Amy wove up the table runner, but also made the same pattern in another colorway into placemats! If you feel confident in your weaving math, you can totally freestyle and make a table runner OR some placemats.

Amy's Tips and Notes for the Placemats

  • I would recommend using a smaller thread for weft (8/2 would be nice) if you are wanting to have hems on your placemat.
  • If using the 6/2 as hem (which I did in the samples) you can weave plain weave, beat tighter and try to draw in more. I did about 1.75 inches in length, did a small bead of white glue on the last 2 picks and let it dry before cutting them apart.
  • I did sew the hems before washing them in the washer and drying them in the dryer then used an iron on the hems to block them a little
  • The length of my placemats was around 19-19.5 inches and did 7 repeats of a full diamond and I wanted to stop and start on the same motif

We hope you have fun with this one!
