Class - Descriptions

BEGINNING CROCHET:

Participants will learn the basics of crochet including how to create a dishcloth using basic stitches as well as how to read a pattern. Whether you are a newbie or need a refresher course, this will be a great class to get you started crocheting. All equipment and materials for class use will be provided.

BEGINNING FELTING: 

If you have ever wanted to learn how to needle felt or brush up on your skills, then this is the class for you. Instruction will cover proper technique as well as tips from start to finish for a beautiful piece that you can be proud of afterwards. Everything you need to get started is included with the class.

BEGINNING PUNCH NEEDLE:

Participants will be introduced to the basics of punch needle embroidery, including needles, fabrics, thread and patterns.  Students will be working with an Ultra Punch Needle and a sampler pattern.  You will leave the class with your own punch needle, punch needle pattern, lap stand hoop and your almost-finished piece.

INTRODUCTION TO RIGID HEDDLE WEAVING: 

Rigid heddle weaving is fun, simple to learn, and very versatile.  In this class you will weave a sample on a Schacht Cricket loom. We will cover basic weaving concepts, warping the loom, choosing yarns, and the process of weaving. We will also discuss finishing techniques and how to plan a successful weaving project.  All equipment and materials for class use will be provided.

  • Class Duration:  5 hours with an hour break for lunch

INTRODUCTION TO FOUR HARNESS WEAVING: 

The class will include two full days dedicated to understanding simple drafting, dressing the loom (BACK to FRONT method), weaving, and finishing projects. Each participant will use a 4-shaft loom to plan a sample warp, wind a warp, graph their design, weave, and choose a finishing method for their project.  It is important for the participant to understand how to begin the process of weaving by formulating a warp plan, and then dressing the loom by themselves.  All equipment and materials for class use will be provided.

  • Class Duration: 16 hours of class over two days with a 30-minute break for lunch each day
