Super Simple Scarf with Gusto Echoes

Not only is this scarf perfect for beginners, it weaves up quickly too! So whether you’re just starting out and want something easy, OR you need a quick gift idea, this could be the answer you’re looking for! Gusto Echoes is intended to be a sock kit where one mini-skein is used for each sock, but Amy found that each mini-skein works great as warp & weft and they work beautifully when woven together. AND the yarn itself is less than $20!

Weave Structure

Plain weave

Warp

We created a 100” long warp with 72 ends using one skein of Gusto Echoes

Since you are limited to one skein in this project, you might want to lash on your warp instead of tying it on. This technique helps to use as much of the yarn as possible. We do have a YouTube video tutorial on how to lash on your warp to walk you through this process!

Weft

Using the other skein, we wove our scarf averaging 11-12 ppi until the woven length measured ~ 80" off tension. It is worth noting that with self striping yarn you need to keep your color sequencing in order in your weft. We have a full YouTube Video how how to do this here:

Finishing

We left about 6” of warp unwoven on both ends to create fringe and then trimmed to our liking. Our fringe was made by twisting bundles of 2 working ends together in each clip of our fringe twister, then letting them twist together to create twisted bundles of 4 total working ends. If you’ve never used a tool to twist fringe, check out this helpful video:

There you have it! A quick and simple weaving project with tons of beautiful color ways to choose from! We can’t wait to see your socks and scarves!
