Valley Rayon Chenille Yarn

This rayon chenille is made using colorfast dyes. A bit more expensive, but well worth the cost. Rayon chenille yarn is spectacular when woven. We recommend a sett of 12 to 18 epi. Fine gauge machine knitters can also produce wonderful fabrics with rayon chenille. (We do not recommend rayon chenille yarn this fine for hand knitting it is slippery and has no resilience, so it is most likely to stretch.) It comes in coordinating solid and variegated colors.

Rayon Chenille yarn can be used to make wonderful towels, bathrobes, soft sweaters and bathmats. Unlike most yarns which are spun from a raw fiber, Rayon Chenille is actually constructed in a process similar to weaving. The yarn is produced using a center strand made up of very tightly wound, long fibers. Shorter, softer fibers are then spun into these center strands to give the yarn the appearance of a very thin woven fabric. The long, sturdy center strand gives the yarn its durability, and the short pieces gives it the soft feel. Because Rayon Chenille is crafted from wood pulp, most consider it to be a natural fiber.
